Simple Flash Cards App Reviews

Good but Flawed

This application does what it purports to. It allows you to write a question, blur out the answer, recall the answer in your head, and then click to see the answer. It however is missing some important features that should be standard in every flashcard app. (1) The allowed length for questions is very short. Exceeding the character limit causes the questions to go off screen and you cant see the rest of the question without several extra clicks. (2) There is no algorithm in shuffle mode that diagnoses you success rate on a particular card. The same cards you already know will continue to be shown to you over and over again. (3) Card stacks not exportable or importable. (4) Photos or screenshots can not be embedded on cards. (5) There is no formula editor for entering mathematical expressions or greek letters. The addition of these features would make this a 4 or 5 star app, but because of the missing features I can not give it more than a 3.

Maybe too simple...

The good: Very easy to use, good for simple stuff and short answers The bad: You cannot print the cards (Print function is unavailable and Ctrl-P gives you the error ping), the Mac app does not have an equivalent for the iphone so you cannot transfer the cards to your iphone (that would have been nice!), the size of the cards are unchangeable and you cannot scroll to view more, you cannot change the font or the size of the font, the window for the card is not expandable (really??) so if you put more information than the card can show in the viewable area, you are out of luck, most Command shortcuts do not work (like print, copy, paste,…) and you have to go through the standard menu at the top (yes, even though this is 2012).

Decent, Could Be Much Better

First off, this app has a fatal flaw. Once you have repeated going over a list of words, it is possible to read the anwer despite it being blurred. If the answer was simply blacked out that would be a large improvement. Also, the lack of a keyboard shortcut is disapointing. A mobile option and print option, along with the prior two issues being solved would make this app a great study tool, until then, it is not worth the three dollars as you could get 100s of notecards for that price.

Exactly what i thought it would do

Just wished i could sync it to my iPhone, and i agree with a previous comment about controls not being intuitive enough.

Great App!

I have enjoyed this app. It is simple and to the point with not a lot of bells and whistles. I am looking forward to the iphone app version to come out so I can veiw my flashcards on multiple devices.

Useful Great App- Needs Improvement

I like this application and it works really well for studying. However, itd be nice if there was an option to check off whether or not you want that card to be seen again while studying. I have to continually skip through cards I know very well to get to the ones I dont know as well, where Id rather just be able to take them out of that pile without having to delete them. Not only that, but I think adding more personalization would be great--i.e. fonts, colors, etc. And some cards I have a lot of information that doesnt fully fit on that card, so maybe a scrolling option would be a good idea, that or just simply smaller font choices. Thank you!

Quality

Well put together, quality app that works great. Looking forward to the iPhone/iPad versions.

Great App.

This is a wonderful app. Just wish I could sync to my iPad/iPhone for easier access during classes and such.

Unfortunately, too simple

1) No way to change format or see an overall view of all the cards in a stack 2) Image support would be nice 3) Be careful - if you delete a card, its gone without any prompt and the action cant be undone 4) No way to unshuffle

Performs as advertised- needs improvement

Worth the money. This app is good enough to replace traditional cards for most of your studying but not all. Although the name of the app includes "Simple," I still expected some more functions. 5 Stars will be given when I have the ability to: 1.) Mark whether I got it correct or incorrect and be able to adjust rules of what happens when I do so. 2.) Move cards between stacks and also duplicate cards in order to place in more than one stack. 3.) Switch heading and body as I can choose to blur. 4.) Create sub-stacks. 5.) Insert images. 6.) Edit name of created stack.

A little disappointed

I love the look of the app but I wish there was a way to quiz yourself or mark cards you know the answer to. I also wish you could blur the title, not just the description. But its a great study tool otherwise!

Great for college students!

I have an exam coming up so I purchased this app to help. Its very great and has the "apple" simplicity feel which I always like. Keep it SIMPLE! Suggestion: - Create a way you can EFFECTIVELY print the flash cards so it will be like real life flash cards as well for people who cant be around their computers a lot. - A "search" option would definitely help.

Could use some more features

I guess I shouldnt expect too much from an app called "simple flash cards." It works well, but all you can really do is blur out definitions and shuffle a stack. It would be nice if you had the option to blur out the heading as well as the body of the flash card. Or flip the card so you could see definition first and then the word. Dont know why you have to pay for an app so simple.

Almost perfect (and going there soon Im sure.)

This is one great tool that I am going to be using like none other. The price was phenomenal and worth every penny. For those that wish there to be keyboard shortcuts, these are the ones implemented: ⌘ + → Next Card ⌘ + ← Previous Card ⌘ + E Edit Card ⌘ + S Save Edit ⌘ + C Cancel Edit 2 things keeping it from being a 5 star app are: (1) a keyboard shortcut for new card would be excellent. maybe ⌘-N (2) the icloud syncing to iphone app which is already coming and I will eagerly anticipate its arrival. :)

Good app

Quite frankly this is a very good app with great potential and a quick support in case you would need one. It would be good if in future versions were folders to organise stacks.

Perfect for exam review

I purchased this app to review for my upcoming finals, and it works so much more efficiently than hand writing a notecard! Its a simple app but its perfect for what I needed.

Cuold you please support to insert picture into the flash card?

Sometimes I want there is a piecture in the flash card, which makes it very easy to understand.

Has some flaws

It is relatively easy to enter data using cut and paste for other cards and stacks, One flaw is that you can order the cards as you want, only shuffle them, And the only "file" option is to "close". You cant save or export the cards to a file to backup them up or copy them to other computers that its licensed to.

Good App

This app works well! There are just a few things I would change. First of all, the ability to unshuffle cards would be great. Once you shuffle your cards, there is no way to get them back in the order they once were in. Secondly, entering information on new lines without having to hit option enter would be easier. Lastly, being able to view the cards in a list view would be helpful. Overall, it works and it saves paper/money.

Improvements advisable

I like the program. Simple and straight. It fails keyboard navigation like "next/previous page" and "enter" for saving a card. Those kind of simple things would be very convenient. What I am really missing is that the window is fixed. Its not possible to drag to enlarge a card size of make it smaller. Sometimes I have not that much space on your screen to keep the program open because the cards are too big than.
